REFLECTION

I was extremely lucky o be able to attend the “That’s so Gay” FIQWS class with two amazing professors. I have never been part of something like this in high school. We’ve had one club in high school that was to inform and welcome all students that were part of the LGBTQ+ community. However, I’ve never heard of or been part of a class like this that was so interesting and gave me credit for it. The projects and the weekly assignments for this class have definitely helped me improve my writing. All throughout high school, I’ve always been required to write about non-fiction pieces so I have definitely mastered my writing in that category, but other than my college essay, I haven’t been told to write about myself or my day-to-day experiences. The labor logs have definitely helped me better my writing and helped me deal with many things throughout this semester. I love writing, no matter what it is. When I first came to the U.S., writing is one of the things, other than cartoons, that’s has helped me improve my English, since I’m not much of a reader. For my research project, I wanted to research on an issue that interests me and something that I may have experienced first hand. So the issue of the transgender community in Bangladesh came into mind because whenever I do visit there, I always see how poorly and unfairly they are treated. Even as a young girl it wasn’t difficult to notice this issue so I was very excited to base my project on this topic. Also, I thought that my professor would find it interesting and would learn something new.

Writing this reflection reminds me how much I have genuinely enjoyed this class. Everyone in this class is so nice and smart and its always interesting listening to everyone’s stories. I would love to receive an A in this class because I believe I have worked hard in the assignments that I have been given and I tried my best with all the problems and hectic shit going on in my life. Plus it would look good on my GPA.
